About the role
The Human Resources Coordinator (Civil Service Recruiter) provides guidance and support to faculty and instructional staff on recruitment processes and procedures for civil service roles across the campus. This role ensures compliance with College and CUNY policies and contributes to special projects and initiatives, including the administration of hiring pools.
Responsibilities
- Actively recruit and hire qualified candidates for classified/civil service positions across Bronx Community College.
- Track and monitor candidates throughout the recruitment lifecycle, from initial contact through onboarding, ensuring a seamless and efficient hiring process.
- Collaborate with HR leadership, staff, and departmental stakeholders to provide regular updates on recruitment progress, vacancy status, and onboarding activities.
- Facilitate personnel actions for civil service employees, including new hire onboarding, anniversary increases, uniform allowances, and payroll or status changes.
- Provide accurate and timely information on civil service/classified policies, procedures, and practices to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain a working knowledge of College and CUNY policies, ensuring all HR activities remain compliant with applicable regulations.
- Support special projects and HR initiatives, including the development and management of hiring pools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of New York State Civil Service/Classified and procedures preferred.
- Knowledge of CUNY policies and procedures preferred.
- Experience managing and leading recruitment processes within a higher education or campus environment preferred.
- Prior experience working within the CUNY system is strongly preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and strong interpersonal abilities, with a proven commitment to providing high-quality customer service in a diverse, multicultural environment.
- Proficiency in CUNYfirst and Microsoft Teams preferred.
