About the role

The Department of Public Safety's mission is to safeguard and preserve the lives and property of the people of North Carolina through preparation, prevention, and protection with integrity and honor. The Governor’s Crime Commission (GCC) is the chief advisory body to the Governor and the Secretary of the Department of Public Safety on crime and justice issues. The GCC administers federal and state grants and is the State Administering Agency (SAA) for various grant programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with basic HR actions such as FMLA requests, promotions, separations, and leave entries.
  • Aids in payroll and time entry in Fiori by checking for errors, helping employees and supervisors correct issues, and running routine reports.
  • Supports job postings and internal recruitment tasks and assignments, tracks vacancies, and organizes referral and recommendation packets for DPS HR.
  • Enters data using MS Excel application.

Requirements

The minimum education and experience required for this position is an associate’s degree in Human Resources or a relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution, combined with 1 year of experience, or 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications

Knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) are not required but may be used to determine the pool of most qualified applicants. Managers may also choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences. All work history and education (including accurate dates of employment/attendance) must be documented on the application.

Skills

  • Experience using Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) software platforms (e.g., FIORI /SAP, Workday).
  • Experience managing confidential records (e.g. human resource data, medical records, etc.).
  • Experience in employee selection and recruitment.

Benefits

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including paid vacation, paid sick leave, paid holidays, retirement, and health insurance. The work schedule is Monday through Friday (8AM – 5PM). We value our employees and are committed to providing flexibility in work schedules. This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of the State Telework Program.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $37,377.00 - $48,304.00. Salary will be based on relevant qualifications, internal equity, and budgetary considerations for the advertised position.

Schedule

The work schedule is Monday through Friday (8AM – 5PM).
