Key Responsibilities

  • Setup, process, and review FMLA leave requests, including eligibility determination, documentation verification, and approval/denial notifications.
  • Communicate with employees, clients and HRPS to explain FMLA policies, procedures, and their rights and responsibilities during leave.
  • Cook up with healthcare providers, employees, and management to obtain necessary medical certifications and updates.
  • Track leave durations, monitor return-to-work dates, and ensure timely follow-ups with employees and supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee leave records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Stay current on FMLA regulations, state-specific leave laws, and company policies to ensure compliance.
  • Aid in resolving leave-related inquiries or disputes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Prepare reports and metrics on leave usage for HR leadership as needed.
  • Support additional HR functions, such as disability claims or accommodations, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in HR, leave administration, or a related role; prior FMLA processing experience is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of FMLA regulations and familiarity with state leave laws. Excellent organizational and time-management skills with a keen eye for detail. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and HRIS software (e.g., ADP, Workday). Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a customer-service mindset. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Physical Requirements & Work Environment: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple cases and associated tasks simultaneously.
