About the role

The HR Benefits and Support Specialist assists in administering the company's employee benefits, key Human Resources programs, including some recognition programs, and provides general administrative support to the Human Resources function and Human Resources leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Administers various employee benefits programs, such as group health, dental, vision, life insurance, wellness and retirement plans.
    • Handles benefit enrollments, terminations, and changes.
    • Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding benefit questions and issues.
    • Maintains and updates benefit systems and any related databases and policies.
    • Maybe responsible for some employee recognition programs as requested.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations concerning employee benefits.
    • Maintains current compliance posters and hangs at appropriate sites as well as remote worker facilitation.
    • Maintain accurate and complete benefits records.
  • Develop and deliver benefits communications to employees, including open enrollment materials, benefit plan summaries, and other educational materials.
    • Conduct benefits orientations and explain benefits policies and procedures.
  • Provide administrative support to the leaders of HR, including the directors and vice president as needed.
    • Manage the calendar of the HR VP and assist with calendaring meetings and events for the HR leaders.
    • Aid in the development and implementation of new benefit plans and programs.
    • Resolve benefits-related inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
    • Support HR team with other duties and projects as needed.
  • Career Development and Training
    • Coordinate and manage all phases of assigned HR projects, from inception to completion.
    • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
    • Support and assist with the HR team.
  • Project Planning and Daily Oversight
    • Coordinate and manage all phases of assigned HR projects, from inception to completion.

  • Stakeholder Coordination
    • Collaborate with HR team members, departmental leaders, and other stakeholders to define project scope and objectives.
    • Facilitate regular project meetings to communicate progress, risks, and changes.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for project-related inquiries and updates.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain detailed project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and post-project evaluations.
  • General Human Resources Support
    • Annual Employee Awards Banquet event coordination.
    • Facilitation of the All-Star Program.
    • Manage HR poster compliance process.
    • Facilitate / support special activities for the organization.
    • Support of employee communication formats e.g. Leadership team distribution lists/ outlook lists, Direct Line.
    • Back up coverage to Human Resources front desk coverage.
    • HERO program supply ordering.
    • Departmental invoice processing as assigned.
    • Scheduling and coordination of meetings and HR sponsored events as requested.
    • Calendar management of leader team as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in Human Resources.
  • College level coursework in HR, current national certification in HR (PHR/SPHR) strongly preferred.
  • Experience Three years’ experience in an HR position. or promotion from within HR with one full year of experience in HR required.
  • Experience in large healthcare organizations, knowledge of accreditation standards strongly preferred.

Skills

  • Excellent research and analysis, budgeting, organizational, oral and written communication skills required.
  • Advanced proficiency in word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications required to support project work.
  • Knowledge of, and appropriate application of, the following: Federal and State law and regulations regarding employment, discrimination, wage and hour, benefits administration, Compliance Agency enforcement and administration, dispute resolution techniques, OSHA, SB 198, and Workers’ Compensation.

  • Adhere to established policies and procedures and exhibit the defined characteristics associated with attendance and punctuality.

Compensation

$36.00 - $41.00 - (max rate listed is commensurate of 20 plus years of experience.)
