HR Assistant
About the role
The HR Assistant provides administrative support including hiring, recruitment, compensation, organizational effectiveness, leaves of absence, employee benefits, staffing activities and creating accurate documentation for a variety of human resource actions. This position reports to the human resources manager.
Ideal candidate
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, the ability to interact with tact and diplomacy, possesses organizational skills, a well-developed sense of urgency, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Key responsibilities
- Provide administrative support for hiring, recruitment, compensation, organizational effectiveness, leaves of absence, employee benefits, and staffing activities
- Create accurate documentation for a variety of human resource actions
- Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgement in handling sensitive employee and organizational information
- Build and preserve trust through professional, impartial, and respectful interactions with individuals regardless of personal opinions, past experience, or relationships
- Approach employee concerns and organizational matters objectively and consistently
Requirements
Any combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to gain the required knowledge and ability is:
- Possession of a high school diploma or the equivalent AND two (2) years of responsible office administrative or technical support experience, preferably in a personnel setting
- OR an equivalent combination of training and experience
- AND two (2) years of personnel relations experience including proper and professional documentation capabilities
Preferred qualifications
- Experience and familiarity with employment law (public entity) preferred
