About the role
Sabathani Community Center (SCC) is one of Minnesota’s oldest African American-founded nonprofits serving a multi-cultural community of more than 50,000 community members in South Minneapolis. SCC was founded in 1966 by a handful of concerned community members seeking to address social and economic disparities in underserved communities in the areas of youth programming, housing, health and education. The organization is a major resource hub expanding services within the South Minneapolis community.
Responsibilities
Direct Support and Documentation (85%)
- Intake of participants
- Examining participant income and family composition
- Providing housing information and assistance
- Inspecting units for compliance and housing quality standards (HQS)
- Processing rental payments to landlords
Internal Support (10%)
- Works closely with Sabathani’s CFO to process rental assistance payments
- Develop or refine internal processes to ensure efficiency in communication and programming
- Represents and promotes Sabathani’s mission and programs in a variety of public settings
- Educates Sabathani staff about referral, the application requirements, and application process
Other duties as assigned (5%)
- Other miscellaneous tasks as directed
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in human services, social work or related field, preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in housing or social services
- Experience working in a nonprofit setting preferred

- Competency or the ability to quickly learn QuickBooks (Intuit Software) and Sales Force platforms
- Competency in MS Office: Word, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers and the public
- Must use good judgment in recognizing the scope of authority
- Ability to travel to sites within 30-mile radius of the office
Licenses And/or Certifications
- Valid MN Drivers’ License
- Access to reliable transportation
- The ability to meet Sabathani’s driving record requirements
