Housing Electrician
About the role
The Housing Electrician performs a full range of skilled journey-level electrical and related work as outlined. Such work includes repairing and replacing electrical devices, troubleshooting, and resolving complex issues.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Use test instruments to diagnose and resolve electrical malfunctions.
- Inspect and maintain fire alarm systems.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Communicate effectively with other trades and supervisors.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal codes and regulations.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system.
- Ability to use standard office software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel).
- Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
- Completion of a standard electrician’s apprenticeship program.
- Experience as a journey-level electrician.
- Valid California Driver’s License.
Skills
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Using test instruments to diagnose and resolve electrical malfunctions.
- Communicating information clearly and accurately.
- Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Pay
$5,998 per month (Step 1) - $6,492 per month (Step 5)
Schedule
Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Work hours may include evenings and weekends, dependent on department needs.

Facilities Management is the steward for the University buildings, infrastructure, grounds and landscape.
