About the role
The Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO) seeks a Housing Advocate to provide support and empowerment to individuals experiencing homelessness at the Champlain Place Emergency Shelter in Burlington, Vermont.
Responsibilities
- Provide trauma-informed support to emergency housing guests and others experiencing homelessness.
- Work with clients to secure housing and access essential benefits.
- Refer clients to employment, medical, mental health, and substance use disorder services.
- Collaborate with community partners to assist clients in accessing housing and social services.
- Address barriers to housing and work with partner agencies to resolve these issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in social or human services or equivalent experience.
- In-depth knowledge of homelessness, affordable housing, poverty, and related issues.
- Experience in advocacy and service provision to economically vulnerable groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, computer, and data entry skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the CVOEO service area.
Qualifications
- Bilingual skills are a plus.

- Knowledge of local resources and services for individuals experiencing homelessness.

Schedule
