About the role

We are seeking an experienced Housekeeping Supervisor to assist in overseeing room operations and providing support to the hotel's housekeeping team at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Walker, MI. This role is responsible for the supervision and control of the Housekeeping Department.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of Housekeeping and Laundry personnel, including interviewing applicants, completing employee evaluations, coaching and counseling employees, recommending disciplinary actions, promoting teamwork and morale, assigning duties, and ensuring OSHA compliance for a safe work environment
  • Ensure your team is in proper uniform, including name tags, daily
  • Assist the General Manager with payroll, monitoring overtime, preparing weekly forecasts, and weekly work schedules
  • Complete administrative duties such as inventory and productivity reports
  • Inspect all areas of the hotel daily to ensure cleanliness and security standards are met
  • Complete monthly linen and supply inventories and purchase supplies
  • Conduct monthly departmental meetings to review new procedures, guest satisfaction scores, and solicit employee input
  • Participate in monthly Profit/Loss reviews
  • Inspect each guest room daily unless prohibited by a “Do Not Disturb” sign
  • Assist in cleaning guest rooms as needed and ensure housekeepers maintain orderly carts and storage rooms
  • Ensure laundry room procedures and standards are upheld; perform laundry duties as required
  • Ensure houseperson procedures and standards are upheld; perform houseperson duties as required
  • Use property management systems for housekeeping functions and ensure room status is accurate daily
  • Maintain labor budget and adjust schedules to avoid unnecessary labor costs
  • Knowledge of all emergency procedures and how to act on them
  • Adhere to proper key control procedures
  • Report any unusual occurrences or requests to the General Manager or Assistant General Manager immediately
  • Knowledge of budgeted departmental PORs for control of expenses
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of hotel experience is a plus
  • Supervising experience preferred
  • Computer software skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Flexibility with schedule and dependability
  • Customer focus, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Satisfactory criminal background screening required

Schedule

This position requires variable hours based on the needs of the hotel, including weekends.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to speak, read, and write in English
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to walk, kneel, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds

This position manages the housekeeping and laundry department staff.
