About the role
Serves as a working leader at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property, responsible for leading and inspecting the work of team members in performing housekeeping duties to ensure program standards are met. Regularly performs the full range of housekeeping services alongside team members.
Responsibilities
- Oversees and communicates instructions, policies, and procedures to Housekeeping Attendants.
- Assists in training new associates and demonstrates proper work methods.
- Ensures adherence to work schedules and reports work status to supervisors.
- Implements efficient and economical cleaning methods for guest rooms.
- Maintains availability of cleaning materials and linen.
- Performs housekeeping duties including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing, moving items, polishing, and trash removal.
- Uses hand and powered cleaning equipment.
- Tracks housekeeping work by room number, occupancy, and guest arrival/departure dates.
- Covers supervisory duties in their absence.
- Greets and welcomes guests, maintaining outstanding guest relations.
- Conducts daily inspections of rooms, housekeeping carts, common areas, and laundry facilities with written documentation.
- Ensures guest privacy and security at all times.
- Secures storeroom items and assigned storage areas.
- Orders and manages cleaning supplies, in-room amenities, and other materials.
- Maintains and accounts for equipment.
- Issues supplies, linen, and amenities to staff and performs inventory as required.
- Handles guest and staff suggestions/complaints diplomatically.
- Sets up, maintains, and cleans the complimentary self-service breakfast bar, including food handling and certification as applicable.
- Applies knowledge of blood-borne pathogens and safety measures for contaminated linens.
- Follows NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG) protocols during daily service activity.
- Performs and inspects laundry operations at the facility.
- May travel to other lodging facilities as required (valid state driver’s license needed).
- May cover operations during emergencies or inclement weather in the absence of a supervisor.
- May be required to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- 6 months of housekeeping experience preferred.
- Leadership and/or training experience preferred.
- Valid state driver’s license required for travel to other facilities.
- May require NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment.
- Food handling certification may be required for breakfast bar duties.
Schedule
Full-Time (35+ hours per week).
Primary Location: United States-Washington-Oak Harbor (Whidbey Island).
