About the Role

The Housekeeping Lead / Lead Inspector is a hands-on leadership position responsible for supporting the Executive Housekeeper in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction throughout the hotel. This role serves as the lead inspector and acting housekeeping leader when the Executive Housekeeper is off the property, while also performing room attendant and housekeeping duties as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect guest rooms after cleaning to ensure they meet hotel and brand standards.
  • Inspect stayover and checkout rooms for cleanliness, maintenance concerns, and overall presentation.
  • Communicate room deficiencies to Room Attendants and ensure corrections are completed.
  • Monitor room readiness and communicate room status with the Front Desk.
  • Assist with prioritizing rooms based on arrivals, departures, early check-ins, VIPs, and hotel occupancy.
  • Identify maintenance issues and ensure they are properly reported.
  • Conduct inspections of public areas, hallways, employee areas, and other assigned spaces as needed.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and presentation throughout the hotel.
  • Assume day-to-day housekeeping leadership responsibilities when the Executive Housekeeper is off property.
  • Assist with assigning room boards and distributing daily housekeeping workload.
  • Monitor attendance and staffing levels and communicate staffing concerns to management.
  • Assist with directing Room Attendants, Housepersons, and other housekeeping team members.
  • Help ensure rooms are cleaned and released in a timely manner.
  • Communicate operational issues to the General Manager or designated manager when the Executive Housekeeper is unavailable.
  • Assist with training and coaching employees on proper cleaning and inspection standards.
  • Help maintain housekeeping supplies, linen levels, and department organization.
  • Assist with inventory and ordering of housekeeping supplies as directed.
  • Help ensure all housekeeping policies, safety procedures, and brand standards are followed.

Hands-On Housekeeping Duties

  • Clean guest rooms, including checkout and stayover rooms, when needed.
  • Make beds, clean bathrooms, vacuum, dust, mop, and replenish amenities and supplies.
  • Assist with deep-cleaning projects and preventive housekeeping tasks.
  • Clean public areas and other assigned areas of the hotel.
  • Assist Housepersons with housekeeping-related duties when needed.
  • Step in to support the housekeeping team during periods of high occupancy, staffing shortages, or heavy workload.

Requirements

  • At least one to three years of related experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for customer service.
  • Ability to lead by example and foster a positive team culture.

Physical Demands

This position requires significant physical activity, including standing, sitting, carrying/lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, bending/twisting, and climbing stairs for more than half of the work time. The role also requires accommodating varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
