About the role
Plans, organizes, and coordinates the scheduling and routing of shipments to control costs and ensure customer satisfaction. Manages Household Goods service crews for pick-up and delivery, resolves minor service and customer issues, and maintains accurate order statuses.
Responsibilities
- Execute shipment plans within branch operations and United Van Lines guidelines.
- Establish and maintain control of all drivers operating in the designated area.
- Rate and memo previous day’s paperwork; ensure timely status updates for all orders in the computer.
- Ensure Household Goods drivers’ paperwork is complete, accurate, and accounted for daily.
- Plan next day’s routes/orders and complete all pre-calls (24-hour notice).
- Assign vehicles and equipment to proper personnel.
- Maintain and audit driver logs and performance with the Operations Manager.
- Assist in maintaining vehicle records, repairs, services, and mileages.
- Ensure work assignments are adequately staffed to meet objectives and customer satisfaction.
- Inform Customer Service representatives of any order-related problems immediately.
- Maintain open communication regarding Sales needs and market conditions.
- Ensure excellent communication with Household Goods customers regarding scheduling and timeliness.
- Review and approve Household Goods system crew time cards and expenses.
- Investigate and analyze causes of shipment damage; take corrective action.
- Interface with the Accounting Department to resolve paperwork and rating issues.
- Maintain company goals and ratios for revenue and expenses.
- Control warehouse labor in conjunction with the Operations Manager.
- Ensure the warehouse is clean, neat, and well-maintained at all times.
- Maintain accounts and warehouse storage records.
- Enforce Company policies and take corrective or disciplinary action as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience; dispatch experience required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented and customer service-focused.
- Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google G Suite.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and autonomously.
