Responsibilities
- May directly intervene in emergency situations, including patient codes, Rapid Response activations, or behavioral escalations
- Maintains patient flow by supervising bed availability and coordinating admissions, discharges, and inter-unit transfers
- Works closely with the emergency department (ED), intensive care units (ICU), med-surg floors, and ancillary departments (lab, imaging, pharmacy) to avoid bottlenecks
- Manages staffing by evaluating unit needs based on census, patient acuity, and absences; reallocates existing staff and coordinates float pool, per diem, or agency support
- Prepares comprehensive shift reports and documents critical incidents—including patient complaints, staff conflicts, injuries, and safety concerns
Qualifications
- Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current
- ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
- One (1) year prior experience as a Supervisor preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years acute care nursing experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
