Responsibilities
- Promote the mission, vision, values and the culture of ARH
- Comply with all applicable safety regulations
- Learn the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors
- Report actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions
- Identify opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety
- Participate in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required
- Frequent and active rounding on all Nursing units to optimize patient care, enhance patient safety, as well as empower, support and develop all staff
- Collaborate with physicians, inpatient staff, and admissions staff on medical necessity issues and determination of appropriate level of care and bed placement, when needed
- Demonstrate behavior that actively promotes a harmonious working relationship in the nursing units and other hospital departments
- Demonstrate positive customer service skills
- Demonstrate ability to actively and expeditiously problem solve
- Participate in nursing and management staff committee work
- Attend management meetings on a regular basis
- Participates in the nursing leadership team
- Maintain a high quality of patient care by establishing and maintaining contemporary industry best practices
- Enforce policies, procedures and processes for nursing units and assist in revising when appropriate
- As directed, may assist in quality improvement projects that may include PDSA processes, auditing and data collection
- Utilize an effective method for disseminating general information, written policies and procedures to those under his/her supervision
- Analyze and evaluate nursing care provided to the units under his/her supervision and make recommendations for improvement
- Support and participate in staff development programs
- Obtain medications from the Pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacist and be responsible for implementing appropriate pharmacy procedure
- Absorb and resolve medication dispensing cabinet discrepancies
- Respond to and coordinate medical codes/rapid responses, fire, safety and disaster situations
- Assist in the evaluation of resources needed for patient safety and behavioral health safety observations – may include data collection and submissions of data to centralized staffing office for remote sitter needs
- Follow all general and departmental safety, security, and health procedures and policies
- Utilize all safe work practices recommended for department
- Ensure that employees practice safety in all departments within the hospital
- Orient new employees to hazardous materials, safety and proper use of equipment, when needed
- May be required to perform bedside clinical care and/or assume a patient assignment during staffing challenges or during a period of unstable staffing during a particular shift
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree Nursing Required
- Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Preferred
- 1-3 years Minimum of two (2) years acute care nursing experience Required
- 4-6 years Five (5+) or more years of acute care nursing experience Preferred
- 1-3 Years One (1) Year Of Supervisory Experience Preferred
- Registered Nurse – Single State or Compact, Required
- BLS upon hire Required
- ACLS and PALS required within 90 days of hire
