The Salvation Army offers safe and welcoming emergency housing programs offering loving, respectful, compassionate, and non-judgmental services to empower residents to strive towards self-sufficiency. The goal is to support individuals experiencing homelessness address immediate barriers to self sufficiency, identify and access longer term housing support, and resolve their immediate housing crisis. All populations experiencing homelessness, including single men and women, couples, and families with children are accepted.
Description of Position
The House Manager supervises their assigned shift at the Eliza Shirley House Resolution Center as well as assists the Residential Advisors (RA) to support residents. The HM is responsible for the safety and welfare of shelter residents through the administration of house rules pertaining to resident conduct, fire safety, room conditions, and curfew restrictions. The HM conducts house and room checks, answers the telephone, greets visitors, checks-in new residents, checks-out departing residents, prepares a House report, manages sign-in logs, calls residents to meals, and monitors mealtimes, responds to emergencies to ensure, if necessary, residents are evacuated safely and efficiently, responds to residents needs and requests, and is responsible for shift specific activities. The HM must clearly document and communicate issues and concerns to Operations Manager, Assistant Directors, and Director, as well as effectively communicate with other house management shifts. The HM is responsible for a rotating on-call weekend shift for staff call-outs and will provide coverage during their assigned shift as needed to support the safe staffing of ESHRC.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED
- Prior residential or customer service work experience
- Must be able to read, write, and speak well in English
- Must have computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel Programs and be proficient in and the ability to utilize the internet
- As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter
- Mets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check
