About the role

School Social Workers provide a continuum of programs, services and resources within the school setting to support the district educational goals and objectives through Social Emotional Learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health counseling services and interventions with individuals and small groups, within general education and special education settings.
• Teach Social Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies in school‑wide, classroom, small group settings, and/or special education settings.
• Provide support services to meet student IEP goals.
• Provide opportunities for education and career awareness, exploration, and planning.
• Identify behavioral needs of students through assessment, intervention, and planning.
• Participate in crisis management and intervention for students due to behavior, suicide, loss, and trauma.
• Assist and support staff and families with student crisis situations.
• Facilitate a link between home, school, and community resources.
• Provide behavioral interventions in a collaborative setting.
• Build positive understanding of cultural diversity while establishing inclusive relationships with students, families, staff and members of the community.
• Advocate for the needs of underrepresented populations.
• Attend and participate in meetings involving all
