About the role
Childhelp is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Hotline Counselor to join our National Child Abuse Hotline team. In this role, you'll provide crucial crisis intervention, education, and resource information to help-seekers contacting us via call, text, or chat. You'll be instrumental in creating action plans using our evidence-informed practice model, addressing critical issues such as child abuse, family conflict, domestic violence, and mental health concerns.
What You'll Do
- Provide Counseling Services: Offer empathetic and undivided attention to help-seekers through phone calls, texts, and live chats, understanding their immediate needs and developing brief action plans.
- Documentation & Reporting: Accurately and completely enter relevant data into our Hotline database in a timely manner, and report information to authorities when legally required.
- Maintain Quality Standards: Stay current on all laws, regulations, policies, and practices related to child abuse and neglect, ensuring adherence to confidentiality, ethical guidelines, and contractual obligations.
- Collaborate and Grow: Attend staff meetings, complete required trainings, and actively participate in team discussions to identify effective approaches and interventions. Engage in reflective supervision to continuously improve your skills.
Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is required; A Master's or Doctoral degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Experience: Minimum one (1) year of experience working with family violence and/or child abuse.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of laws and regulations surrounding physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, child abuse, neglect, and legal reporting requirements.
- Ability to successfully complete Hotline Counselor training and pass all competency assessments.
- Must meet all job expectations, including successful completion of the counselor assessment, within the first 90 days of employment.
Schedule
Available Shift (Arizona Time Zone): Tuesday - Saturday, 7:00am-3:30pm
