About the role

Encore Boston Harbor is a luxury global destination gaming resort located on the waterfront along the Mystic River and connected to Boston Harbor. It features 671 hotel rooms with sweeping views of the Boston skyline and Boston Harbor, an ultra-premium spa, luxury retail, high-end dining, and state-of-the-art ballroom and meeting spaces. The property is the largest private single-phase development in the history of the Commonwealth.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all guests and show them to their tables.
  • Accommodate guests' needs and requests.
  • Act as an ambassador for the restaurant, the resort, and its amenities, speaking in detail about food and beverage selections, event spaces, and special arrangements.
  • Fulfill job responsibilities to support the department and maximize opportunities for success.
  • Maintain all Encore Standards.
  • Ensure excellent guest and team member experience.
  • Deliver and maintain a maximum level of property-wide service and satisfaction.
  • Contribute to company-wide communication and best practices.
  • Keep informed of all new developments within the department.
  • Balance multiple priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines, often in stressful and high-pressure situations.
  • Provide information on all aspects of available services and facilities for guests.
  • Quote accurate waiting times and handle guest waiting lists or reservations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist guests with reservations via phone and in person; make confirmation calls when appropriate.
  • Assist guests with special requests and connect them with other departments that can fulfill their needs.
  • Oversee quality check and rotation of menus.
  • Communicate with co-workers and supervisor to ensure quality service.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned by restaurant management.
  • Work with safety as a priority, following department and company safety standards.
  • Maintain relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Age, Gaming And Certifications

Must be 18 years of age or above and required to obtain and maintain registration or a license issued by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

Education And/or Experience

  • A high school degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of hosting experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office a plus.
  • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills as well as excellent attention to detail.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests.
  • Conversational English required, second language a plus.
  • Ability to write instructions.
  • Ability to present information.

Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to decipher various reports and maintain reports upon request.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, and to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, stretch, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Moderate physical ability such as lift or maneuver at least thirty (30) pounds, and varied instances of standing/walking.

Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
  • When on the restaurant floor or some back of house areas, the noise level increases to loud.
  • Must be able to interact with internal and external guests in a professional manner.
  • Due to the unpredictable nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, Team Members must be able to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
