About the role

You represent Fairmont Century Plaza with enthusiasm and pride, providing exceptional service and attention for each guest you encounter. You are energetic and confident, and will encourage your teammates to achieve and be positive while being entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the best possible experience for your guests at all times in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and escorting guests to tables in the restaurant.
  • Maintaining a friendly, courteous and efficient operation of the dining room to ensure guest satisfaction and manageable flow of service.
  • Upholding the Fairmont Century Plaza values and mission statement while performing positional responsibilities.
  • Adhering to company policy and procedures, as stated in the company handbook.
  • Consistently offering professional, friendly and engaging service.
  • Interacting with arriving and departing guests.
  • Answering the phone using proper standards and etiquette.
  • Taking, recording, and confirming with accuracy restaurant reservations in accordance with the reservation guidelines.
  • Using clear and concise communication with the assistants, servers, lead servers, and the Managers regarding the needs of the guests.
  • Escorting guests to the appropriate table in the dining room.
  • Acting as the point of contact between guests and leadership.
  • Tailoring guest experience when necessary.
  • Being familiar with all menu items and aspects and services of the property.
  • Aiding in cleaning, clearing and setting tables.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the restaurant.
  • Being familiar with all food outlets and amenities within the property.
  • Being knowledgeable of general city information as well as hotel history.
  • Representing the department, the property and the brand as an ambassador.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills and organized.
  • Legible penmanship.
  • Calm and warm manner.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of Host position training program.
  • Pass Food, Beverage and Service Knowledge Quizzes.
  • Able to speak and write English clearly at an advanced level.
  • Able to communicate clearly and listen attentively to management, guests, and fellow employees.
  • Able to make good decisions where guests and co-workers are concerned.
  • Demonstrates good judgment.

Pay

Hourly Rate: $32.75 (Break-In Rate applicable for New Hires as per CBA)
