About the Role
As a family/guest facing team member, you will compassionately address family and guests, working with kindness and compassion to honor the deceased. You will prepare room set-ups, breakdowns, and cleaning, including refreshments, floral arrangements, and family mementos for funeral services and events.
Responsibilities
- Prepares rooms for services and events, including physically moving and setting up chairs, tables, easels, podiums, photos, and other personal keepsakes or mementos of client families.
- Displays floral arrangements (may weigh up to 50 pounds), photos, easels, and similar items; may arrange caskets and urns.
- Prepares tables for refreshments, including food, beverage, serving dishes, and utensils provided by catering, family, or the company; may serve food to guests as permitted by state/local ordinance.
- Monitors and maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and organization during events.
- After events, packs up family mementos and provides them to the family upon departure or arranges for delivery.
- Cleans up rooms, ensuring proper disposal of trash, care, and storage of company items; vacuums and sanitizes areas after events.
- Processes laundry and restocks supplies; alerts management to low inventory.
- Greets customers politely, anticipates their needs, and responds promptly; accommodates family needs during services or visitation.
- Resolves customer issues and alerts management when needed.
- Performs general cleaning, including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and trash disposal.
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and kitchens, including appliances, surfaces, and cabinet interiors.
- Replaces burned-out light bulbs inside the facility and maintains clean entry doors.
- Sweeps or vacuums exterior entry mats and straightens/rearranges furniture; may spot-clean fabrics to remove stains.
- Maintains facial tissue dispensers, water dispensers, and replenishes supplies on an ongoing basis.
- Maintains an adequate supply of kitchen and cleaning supplies; advises management of re-order needs.
- Notifies management of any emergency maintenance issues.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Food Safety Certificate may be required according to state/province regulations.
- Food and beverage server experience preferred.

Work Conditions
- Professional dress is required when in contact with families.
- Continuous periods of standing; climbing stairs may be necessary.
- Physical effort to push/pull carts, vacuum cleaners, and lift serving dishes; ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Work is beyond standard business hours, including evenings and weekends.
