About the role

The Hospital Services Specialist (HSS) plays a crucial role in saving lives by facilitating organ and tissue donation at assigned hospitals. Key responsibilities include developing relationships with key hospital partners, managing hospital processes for donation, and serving as a clinical first responder to families.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key professional contacts including front line staff, senior leaders, physicians, medical examiners, and county coroners.
  • Rounding per the Hospital Services process to broaden and strengthen support throughout the hospital, including off hours and weekends.
  • Collaborating with key hospital staff to formulate action steps to increase donation through process improvement.
  • Responding onsite in real time to Organ Referrals and Donors, leading in overcoming any hospital barriers to donation.
  • Assessing and determining donor suitability, managing the potential donor to maximize donation opportunities.
  • Performing chart reviews to determine donor eligibility, ensuring optimal outcomes for donor families and recipients.
  • Assessing clinical situations, making appropriate decisions, collecting, and organizing donor information from hospital documentation and clinical staff.
  • Collaborating with the Family Support Coordinator to dual-approach families and offer them the opportunity of donation.
  • Developing and facilitating education to increase knowledge of the donation process, including formal training and real-time education during case activity.
  • Communicating donation strategy with appropriate parties.
  • Developing and maintaining effective donation processes at each assigned hospital to increase eye, tissue, and organ donation.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and reporting data results to key hospital staff and Mid-America Transplant management.
  • Identifying hospital units or areas with high potential/low authorization rates and developing an action plan to address them.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Registered Nurse experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Account Management.

  • $20.00 - $25.00 per hour.

Schedule

Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7:00am-7:00pm.
