Hospital Services Specialist- Weekday Evenings

About the role

The Hospital Services Specialist plays a crucial role in maximizing organ and tissue donation opportunities at assigned hospitals within the Mid-America Transplant service area. This position involves rounding with hospital staff, interfacing with key personnel, and promoting a culture of donation.

Responsibilities

• Rounding per the Hospital Services (HS) process to broaden and strengthen support throughout the hospital.
• Assess and maintain active referrals to maximize donation opportunities.
• Interface with hospital staff for updates on referred potential donors, including responding onsite in real time to overcome hospital barriers to donation.
• Maintain effective working relationships with key hospital staff members by ensuring professionalism, respect, and timely communication.
• Provide process compliance support to facilitate organ and tissue donation.
• Effectively communicate After Action Reviews, QAPI’s, Annual Plans, and any policy and procedure changes to Key Hospital Contacts.
• Provide assistance at assigned hospitals in meeting federal and state laws and regulations regarding donation.
• Promote “Donate Life Month” activities to include a culture of donation and celebration.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience is required, with a bachelor's degree preferred.
• Prior experience in marketing, hospital development, or other health-related fields is preferred.
• Prior experience working with electronic medical records is preferred.
• Must understand regulations and standards of hospital accrediting agencies and organizations.
• Must have the ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external contacts.
• Must understand federal and state laws regarding donation (a plus).
