Hospital Medicine – Virtual Nocturnist Full-Time NP/PA

About the Role

The Carolinas Hospitalist Group is looking for an APP to join the Virtual Hospital Medicine Nocturnist team supporting Atrium Health King's Mountain in King's Mountain, North Carolina. This is a fully remote position with the Virtual Hospital Medicine team.

Schedule

• Overnight work schedule: 7 on / 7 off
• Rotating weekends and holidays
• 100% inpatient adult medicine
• Fully remote Virtual Hospital Medicine position

Responsibilities

• Perform virtual admissions, overnight cross-coverage, and ongoing inpatient clinical management for adult hospitalized patients
• Support Atrium Health King's Mountain through Advocate Health's Virtual Care Program
• Collaborate with Hospital Medicine physicians, bedside APPs, nursing, and interdisciplinary care teams
• Utilize Epic electronic medical record
• Perform comprehensive virtual admission history and physical examinations for adult hospitalized patients
• Record findings of examinations, assessments, and plans of care
• Write appropriate prescriptions and administer medications
• Order and interpret daily laboratory and radiology examinations
• Determine treatment plans for patients in collaboration with supervising physicians
• Document all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and activities in a medically appropriate manner within the patient's medical record
• Collaborate with Hospital Medicine physicians, bedside APPs, nursing staff, consultants, pharmacy, rehabilitation services, case management, and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care
• Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and communicate recommendations to bedside care teams
• Act as a patient advocate for the population served
• Attend, participate in, and contribute to group/practice meetings and policy development as requested
• Perform additional duties within the scope of licensure and credentialing

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Nurse Practitioners must hold a Master's Degree or Doctorate in Nursing Practice with ACNP or AGACNP board certification
• Physician Assistants must hold certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• Current license to practice as an NP or PA in North Carolina
• Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license
• BLS for Healthcare Provider (AHA) must be valid at least 90 days beyond start date
• Hospital Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, or other acute inpatient experience preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with appropriate critical thinking and interpersonal skills
• Ability to perform thorough history and physical assessments
• Ability to function within a multidisciplinary team

Physical Requirements

• Frequent sitting, speaking, hearing, computer use, and repetitive hand movements
• Must possess intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity
• Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms
• Must be able to react and perform effectively in stressful situations
• Schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and additional coverage as operationally needed
