NP/PA - Hospitalist, Nocturnist
ChristianaCare is seeking Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants to join ChristianaCare Hospitalist Partners (CCHP), a large, established hospital-employed group of over 150 physicians and 30 advanced practice clinicians. This nocturnist role supports three hospital campuses (1,300 beds) in Newark and Wilmington, DE, and Elkton, MD. The selected candidate will provide clinical management to patients at the Christiana Campus in Newark, DE, and remotely to patients on the Wilmington and Cecil campuses, collaborating with a hospitalist physician. Full-time and part-time positions are available.
Schedule
- 14-15 shifts per 4-week block
- Shift hours: 9:30 PM – 8:30 AM
Pay
Annual compensation range: $117,970 – $148,885. The actual salary will depend on individual factors such as skills, relevant experience, and qualifications.

Responsibilities
- Perform admissions, cross coverage, and discharges for patients under inpatient or observation status
- Assess health status through complete physical examination and medical history
- Analyze patient data and formulate individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams
- Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of prescribed management plans
- Establish priorities based on patient needs and act accordingly
- Order, interpret, and perform diagnostic testing or labs
- Initiate referrals to appropriate resources and services
- Foster efficient patient flow through the system or discharge
- Complete timely and accurate documentation in the EHR, including H&P, consults, progress notes, orders, and discharge summaries
- Submit billing in a timely fashion according to policy
- Provide education and counseling to patients and families using teach-back methods
- Act as a liaison for patients, families, and health professionals
- Participate in discharge planning, resource allocation, and family meetings
- Contribute to best practice guidelines, quality improvement projects, algorithms, and research
- Provide excellent customer service and assist in improving patient satisfaction scores
- Maintain privileges, mandatory education, and regulatory requirements for specialization
- Learn and apply new information, skills, and knowledge
Requirements
- Licensed or eligible for Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in Delaware
- Acute Care NP license required
- Prescriptive Authority or eligibility for Delaware
- DEA registration required
- ACLS certification required
