About the role
Women & Infants Hospital, a leading specialty hospital for women and newborns, is seeking a full‑time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work in its 21‑bed Med/Surge unit. The unit provides comprehensive post‑surgical and medical care to women, averaging 6‑10 patients per day. The hospital is a Baby‑Friendly® USA designated facility, the nation’s ninth largest stand‑alone obstetrical service, operates one of the largest single‑family room NICUs (≈9,000 births/year, 7,000 surgeries), and is a regional leader in infertility, incontinence, gynecologic and breast cancer care, high‑risk and normal obstetrics, postpartum depression, gastrointestinal disorders, and other medical conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform admissions, health history and physical examinations.
- Provide consults upon request from the team while managing medical issues.
- Participate in the medical emergency response team.
- Collaborate care with Women & Infants Hospital and Brown University sub‑specialty physicians.
- Manage a daily census of approximately 6‑10 patients.
