About the role
The Hospice Aide plays a crucial role within the interdisciplinary team, focusing on enhancing patient comfort and maintaining a safe, healthy environment. This position requires a strong commitment to hospice care principles and exceptional interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Completes personal care tasks as directed by the hospice nurse, including bathing, oral hygiene, hair care, and dressing.
- Provides psychosocial support to patients and families, addressing concerns related to end-of-life care.
- Maintains a clean and comfortable environment by performing homemaking services and ensuring patient safety.
- Assists patients with mobility, toileting needs, and medication administration, as directed by the plan of care.
- Documents all observations and care provided in the electronic medical record.
- Participates in quality improvement projects and attends interdisciplinary group meetings.
- Works flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in good standing on the Ohio Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry.
- Two years of experience as a CNA, home health aide, or similar position in an acute care setting.
- Knowledgeable of home health aide practices and procedures.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Insurable under professional liability and crime coverage policies.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Two years of experience as a CNA, home health aide, or similar position in an acute care setting.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, insurable under professional liability and crime coverage policies, and willing to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
