Homemaker - Resident Assistant / Part-Time, Evening Shift

Part-time, unlimited position at the Minnesota Veterans Home-Montevideo. This role is not initially eligible for health and dental insurance benefits.

About the role

The Minnesota Veterans Home-Montevideo is seeking a Resident Assistant to support residents' needs by assisting with limited personal care, providing companionship, food service, snack preparation, and activity support.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents in social activities and with their personal interests.
• Help create opportunities for social interactions, personal routines, and exercise within the resident community.
• Serve food in a clean, cheerful environment to help build connections and a sense of community.
• Develop household customs and rituals by facilitating household-related activities.

Schedule

• Primarily evening shift: 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
• Days of work vary, including weekends as assigned.
• At least 24 hours per 2-week pay period, with potential for additional hours based on business needs.

Pay

• Salary range: $20.87 - $22.79 per hour.
• Additional $2.25/hour shift differential for all hours worked after 6:00 p.m. and before 6:00 a.m.

Requirements

• Ability to serve food in accordance with all pertinent safety and health regulations, guidelines, and standards.
• Interpersonal skills sufficient to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere and engage residents in group and one-on-one activities.
• Knowledge of the aging process and related conditions.
• Ability to communicate effectively, read and follow instructions, and keep simple records.

Additional Requirements

• A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s).
• A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
• Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists, including review of job performance documentation and contact with former employer(s).
