HME Consignment and Inventory Specialist
About the role
The HME Consignment & Inventory Specialist oversees warehouse operations with a dedicated focus on consignment closet inventory management across multiple clinical and care settings. This role ensures accurate inventory control, product availability, and operational efficiency to support patient care while minimizing chargebacks, stockouts, and workflow inefficiencies. The position plays a key role in supporting warehouse redesign initiatives and standardizing consignment processes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day consignment closet inventory counts, reconciliations, and replenishment needs.
- Ensure consignment locations are stocked with appropriate products to meet clinical demand.
- Maintain established par levels and recommend adjustments based on utilization trends.
- Conduct routine cycle counts and assist with full inventory audits of consignment and warehouse stock.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and support corrective action to reduce loss and chargebacks.
- Support warehouse layout redesign, product organization, and inventory flow improvements.
- Collaborate with customer service, billing, insurance, and clinical teams to ensure aligned processes.
- Maintain accurate inventory documentation within inventory management systems.
- Aid in reporting on inventory accuracy, utilization, and operational metrics.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in DME, healthcare logistics, supply chain or warehouse operations. Experience with inventory or warehouse management systems.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work across multiple departments and locations.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of consignment inventory models and controls.
Physical Requirements
- Must be capable of lifting to 75 pounds without difficulty using good body mechanics.
- Requires standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling and reaching at arm’s length and overhead for prolonged periods of time using appropriate body mechanics.
- Requires corrected vision and depth perception sufficient to identify and discern the printed words, instruments, and instructions and ability to record and communicate appropriate documentation.
Work Environment
- Warehouse environment.
- May be exposed to fluctuating temperatures.
