Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
  • Service and grease plant parts, i.e. change belts, grease bearings, and maintain cleanliness of the plant.
  • Order and maintain inventory of plant parts, grease, asphalt oil, etc.
  • Direct general operations of loader operator, laborer and scale operator.
  • Production planning and quality assurance related to asphalt production.
  • Load trucks with proper materials for delivery.
  • Fuel, oil, grease and check other necessary loader parts to ensure proper function of equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of plant premises.
  • Perform general maintenance and repair on equipment as assigned.
  • Auxiliary tasks such as shoveling and clean-up.
  • Auxiliary tasks such as assisting crew and other members of the workforce in different areas of production.
  • Promptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in material or equipment.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment-controlled substance testing.
  • Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrates the willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays as needed.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to determine the cause & repair down equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and under high-stress situations safely.

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions and vibration.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Working from heights and confined spaces may be part of maintenance and repairs when necessary.
