Histotech Assistant - Histology

About the role

The Histotech Assistant role involves performing a variety of Histopathology technical procedures under supervision to support diagnosis and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Retrieving, verifying, tracking, and accessioning patient samples
• Processing tissue specimens
• Maintaining laboratory equipment
• Performing Hematoxylin and Eosin staining and coverslipping
• Managing case assembly, distribution, and handling outside materials
• Troubleshooting equipment and reagents
• Preparing reagents
• Reviewing logs
• Filing slides and tissue blocks
• Handling hazardous chemicals
• Managing Lab Information System records
• Answering phones

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience with a high school diploma plus two years of relevant experience

Preferred skills

• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Laboratory or leadership experience
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

Pay

$23.29 to $33.36 per hour
