Responsibilities

• Assisting the pathologist and Pathologist Assistant (PA) during the post-mortem examination process with a high level of care and precision
• Entering patient and specimen information accurately into the Pathology and Hospital Information Systems to maintain robust records
• Communicates and coordinates seamlessly with the histology department and the Ocean County Medical Examiner to ensure smooth workflows
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and secure laboratory environment by following strict safety protocols, infection prevention practices, and organizational policies
• Ensuring proper handling, labeling, and tracking of specimens to support accurate and timely diagnostic results
• Pursuing continued professional development through training, education, and organizational resources that support long-term career growth

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required
• Classes in biology and related sciences are preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative care team

Schedule

• Per Diem Day shift, Monday through Friday
• Must participate in a rotating 24-hour weekend on-call schedule. This includes being on call during the week (varies weekly/monthly) and providing 24-hour on-call coverage for at least one full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) per month

Pay

$24.10 per hour
