About the role

This posting is for the production team behind In Pursuit with Colleen Shogan, a podcast produced by More Perfect and distributed by PRX. The team is responsible for researching, writing, producing, and distributing each episode, as well as managing the show’s digital presence and audience engagement.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop episode topics, themes, and narratives in collaboration with the host and guests.
• Write and edit scripts for each episode, ensuring historical accuracy and engaging storytelling.
• Coordinate with historians, journalists, and public figures to secure interviews and record conversations.
• Produce audio content, including editing, mixing, and mastering episodes for distribution.
• Manage the podcast’s digital presence, including social media, website updates, and audience interaction.
• Publish and distribute episodes across podcast platforms (e.g., Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube).
• Monitor listener feedback and analytics to refine content and grow the audience.
• Collaborate with the production team, including audio engineers, designers, and marketing partners.
• Organize live events, such as town halls or special episodes, when applicable.

Requirements

• Strong background in American history, political science, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
• Experience in podcast production, audio editing, or broadcast journalism.
• Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with an ability to distill complex ideas into accessible narratives.
• Proficiency with audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, Audacity).
• Familiarity with podcast hosting platforms and distribution networks.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines.
• Experience with social media management and digital content creation.
• Passion for history, civic education, and public engagement.
