Responsibilities
Unarmed Security Officers perform a variety of security-related duties depending on the post:
- Patrolling and monitoring exterior and community areas on-premises.
- Access control of entrances and exits and departure of employees and visitors.
- Monitoring surveillance cameras for any disruptions or unlawful activities.
- Provide detailed reports on daily activities and incidents that may have occurred.
- Using provided communication devices such as two-way radios clearly and concisely.
- Performing CPR or first aid when needed.
- Ensure credentials are maintained per contract requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Project Manager.
Armed Protective Security Officers (FPS) perform the following duties:
- Protect the principal against possible threats.
- Federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks, security equipment monitoring, roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal property.
- Monitoring surveillance cameras for any disruptions or unlawful activities.
- Providing detailed reports on daily activities and/or incidents that may have occurred.
- Knowledgeable and able to effectively use magnetometer and X-ray machines.
- Using provided communication devices, such as two-way radios, in a clear and concise manner.
- Leverages excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures.
- Performing CPR or first aid when needed.
- Ensure credentials are maintained per contract requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Project Manager.
Requirements
Unarmed Security Guard:
- High school diploma or a General Education Degree (GED) recognized by the U.S.
- Associates Degree.
- Two (2) years of verifiable experience as an Unarmed security officer.
- Must have a current and valid Maryland Unarmed Security Guard Card/permit.
- Knowledgeable of the security industry.
- Must have a customer service-driven mindset.
- Ability to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customers/clients.
- Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to understand, explain, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, directives, and procedures per contract.
Armed Protective Security Officer (FPS):
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Be a United States citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard).
- Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individual name and social security number.
- A minimum of two (2) years of security (armed) experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a full-service police department in a municipality, state, or federal law enforcement department within the US.
- A minimum of two (2) years as a member of any US Armed Forces with an honorable discharge.
- Shall fluently speak, read, and comprehend English and be able to compose written reports in English.
- Must be able to qualify with a revolver or semi-automatic.
- Strong relevant knowledge of the security industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have a customer service-driven mindset.
- Ability to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customers.
