HIM Technician I

Job Duties

• Maintains the integrity of the admission, discharge, and demographic data in the hospital's information system.
• Utilizes the hospital's information system to obtain medical record numbers, discharge dates, and demographic information.
• Demonstrates good working relationships with the admitting associates regarding assignments of medical record numbers and admission and discharge dates.
• Provides feedback to admitting associates if an error occurs.
• Communicates with Supervisor in the event Case Management requests a change to the Patient Types of Medical Records.

Qualifications

• Scans a minimum of 7 SDS, Inpatient Medical Records per hour and a minimum 20 Emergency Department records per hour.
• On days when performing Medical Prepping, must record 8 SDS per hour, 6 IP per hour.
• On the days indexing, index a minimum 3 IP/SDS per hour, minimum 12 ED/MRE accounts per hour.
• Aids with release information.
