Responsibilities
- Process all aspects of protected health information (PHI) in various formats, including record maintenance, storage, retrieval, scanning, and indexing.
- Perform record analysis and deficiency reporting.
- Process requests for records from internal and external customers.
- Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and accrediting agency standards related to PHI.
- Serve patients with complex conditions, requiring coordinated teamwork and effective communication within integrated teams.
- Act as a resource for care teams to resolve access-to-patient-records concerns.
- Prioritize work based on urgency, including scanning records for upcoming appointments.
- Follow departmental and organizational guidelines and workflows.
- Use critical thinking to identify and correct errors in patient medical records, including duplication.
- Ensure accuracy in sorting, scanning, indexing, and analysis of patient information.

- Knowledge of Release of Information (ROI), scanning, indexing, and deficiency management processes.

Qualifications
Required: High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred:
- 1-3 years of progressive Health Information Management (HIM) experience.
- Enrollment in an AHIMA-accredited program.
- Credentials such as RHIT, RHIA, CCA, or CCS.
- Advanced education, such as an Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
