About the role
The Health Information Management Department supports the mission and goals of Sinai Hospital by providing appropriate and timely access to health information for continuity of patient care and other authorized requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Follows established conventions and guidelines, codes and abstracts the medical records of inpatients.
- Groups codes to determine diagnosis-related groupings (DRGs-CMS and/or APR).
- Codes reviews medical records to determine the physicians' diagnosis/procedures for the patient and assigns ICD-10CM/PCS codes to those diagnoses/procedures.
Requirements
- Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field.
