Responsibilities
Responsible for efficiently and accurately preparing and scanning medical record documents into an electronic medical record utilizing the OnBase imaging software. Provides assistance to physicians in the delivery of efficient and effective comprehensive medical care through maintaining organized electronic medical records (EMR). Employee carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.
- Sort outstanding couriered documents by date sent from satellite locations and begin processes by date priority.
- Prepares the medical records for efficient scanning by fixing torn edges, removing staples, mounting loose reports, removing any unnecessary documents from the record, and arranging multi-page documents.
- Verifies the quality of the batch by identifying that pages are in the correct order, the pages or documents are legible, no pages are missing, and all pages are oriented appropriately.
- Analyzes documents to ensure the appropriate scanner settings are used.
- Rescans pages as requested by the Supervisor or Manager.
- Titles to scanned batches in a clear and concise description, utilizing guidelines as set by management.
- Performs scanner maintenance to ensure the quality of scanned documents and maintain scanning equipment in optimal working condition.
- Communicates errors and process improvements with a Supervisor.
- Communicates office supply needs to the Supervisor.
- Responsible for the daily incoming and outgoing couriered mail.
- Mets set productivity and quality standards as determined by management.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Six (6) or more months of medical record experience
- Preferred: Previous medical document imaging experience a plus.
Skills
- Knowledge of office equipment.
- Must be flexible in daily assignments and can cross-cover within an assigned work group.
- Excellent interpersonal & problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle varying daily workloads promptly.
- Excellent computer and keyboarding skills, including familiarity with Windows.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
