Medical Records Specialist PRN

Job Summary

The Medical Records Specialist PRN position at HCA HealthONE Sky Ridge requires routine performance of duties in support of the management of the HPF/MPF workflow queues, working applicable worklists within 3M 360 Encompass, the resolution of unbilled accounts, and the processing of physician suspensions.

Responsibilities

• Retrieves discharge medical records from various departments in the hospital and reconciles them to ensure all records are accounted for.
• Facilitates the retrieval and printing of medical records from storage, as well as the storage, archival, and record retention of documents and/or other Alternate Media that cannot be scanned into HPF/MPF.
• Aids in the physician suspension process by evaluating if a physician should be put on suspension, creating the list of recommended suspensions for approval, sending out notice letters, making reminder calls, etc.
• Prepares medical records and loose documents for scanning, scans medical record documents, indexes medical record documentation, performs a paper document to PC screen quality control validation, and completes any certification program and continuing education required by state law.
• Works with the parents to collect and document the birth information, delivers the appropriate forms to them, and provides guidance in the completion of the forms.
• Completes the Acknowledgment of Paternity form, which may require patience, diplomacy, and sensitivity if there is conflict regarding parental responsibility.
• Reviews patient medical records and other resources, as needed, to obtain required birth information.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Hospital or medical office experience is preferred, but not required.
• Previous experience in the handling of patient health information, medical records document imaging, and/or medical records is strongly preferred.

Pay

The typical hourly wage range for this role is $19.29 - $24.30 per hour.

Schedule

This is a PRN position. Hours and schedule will vary.
