Medical Records Specialist PRN
Job Summary
At HCA Florida Northside Hospital, we invest in our Medical Records Specialists. This role involves supporting the HIM Director by managing HPF/MPF workflow queues, resolving unbilled accounts, and processing physician suspensions. You will also serve as the primary point of contact when the HIM Director and/or HIM Coordinator are unavailable.
Responsibilities
- Retrieves discharged medical records from various hospital departments and reconciles them to ensure all records are accounted for.
- Facilitates the retrieval and printing of medical records from storage, as well as the storage, archival, and record retention of documents and/or other Alternate Media.
- Aids in the physician suspension process by evaluating if a physician should be suspended, creating the list of recommended suspensions, sending out notice letters, and making reminder calls.
- Prepares medical records and loose documents for scanning, scans and indexes medical record documents, and interacts with parents to collect and document birth information.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Previous experience in handling patient health information, medical records document imaging, and/or medical records is strongly preferred.
- Completing a certification program from the state(s) may be required for birth certificate processing.
