About the role
The PRN Medical Records Specialist position at Reston Surgery Center offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the healthcare mission of a leading provider of healthcare services, HCA Healthcare. The role involves working anywhere from 10-20 hours per week, typically between 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
- Perform collection, processing, filing, and maintenance of medical records
- Arrange all chart forms and correspondence reports in appropriate order
- Adhere to medico-legal requirements when answering correspondence and inquiries
- Obtain all missing chart contents needed to complete medical records
- Maintain a checkout and return system for medical records while ensuring confidentiality and security
- Arrange a safe off-site storage for microfilming
- Serve as a liaison between the surgery center and the transcription company
- Facilitate patient admissions by reviewing all necessary information, completing forms, and copying insurance cards and photo identification
- Collect and document all collection actions for patient co-payments and deductibles at the time of service
- Prepare, collect, and deliver patient charts and pull previous medical records
Qualifications
- Minimum (1) year of experience in a medical office setting, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center, hospital, or doctor’s office

Pay and Schedule
Hourly wage estimates range from $17.86 to $24.12 per hour. The typical candidate is hired below the midpoint of the range.
