HIM Coder Analyst

About the role

This role involves reviewing patient records and assigning accurate codes for outpatient services in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The organization specializes in outpatient medical coding, ensuring compliance and coding accuracy across various clinical settings.

Responsibilities

• Review patient records and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for ambulatory surgery, observation, emergency department, and outpatient services.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare/Medicaid guidelines and proper documentation.
• Collaborate with physicians and Clinical Documentation Specialists to resolve documentation issues and maintain coding quality standards.
• Work closely with healthcare providers to support billing, reporting, and coding accuracy.
• Maintain a minimum coding accuracy rate of 95%.

Requirements

• 2+ years of current, full-time hospital outpatient coding experience.
• 2+ years of ambulatory surgery coding experience.
• 2+ years of observation coding experience.
• Experience assigning ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes.
• Experience reviewing and interpreting medical records for coding accuracy.
