HybridOTHR$100k–$193k/yrFull-time

About the role

The HIL Subject Matter Expert will lead automation and HIL testing efforts for ADAS feature testing, low-level platform software and hardware on next-generation automotive platforms. This role involves developing and bringing up test solutions, performing GAP analysis, developing new test cases based on ASTQB methodologies, automating these test cases, and executing them to validate ADAS, diagnostic protocols, power management, and core platform functionality. Additionally, the role includes performing system architecture validation, creating test automation in Python or equivalent HIL tools, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and bring up test solutions for end-to-end feature validation.
  • Bring up new features and system test validation of software components related to ADAS/AD, Diagnostics & Platform testing.
  • Perform GAP analysis, develop new test cases based on ASTQB test methodologies, automate these test cases, and execute test cases to validate software across ECUs at the system level on HIL.
  • Perform system architecture and validation tests on components.
  • Create test plans, execute tests, review test reports, and ensure feature validation tests are aligned with system level feature requirements.
  • Facilitate and align with cross-functional technical teams such as functional safety, feature teams, infotainment on the system level.
  • Create bench level test cases using ECUTest/CAPL/Python to increase efficiency, test repeatability, and contribute to reducing cost and improving final product quality.
  • Maintain test cases traceability against system level feature requirements throughout the product development life cycle.
  • Align and support SAFe processes and activities within functional areas such as System, Hardware, and Safety.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing, feature-related fault injection testing, and develop, execute test cases to ensure system and feature integrity. Triage and root cause internal and customer fleet level parking feature issues.
  • Work on defining and executing software and hardware diagnostics test cases, investigate root causes of component or system level DUT failures, implement automated diagnostics testing (UDS/DoIP/K-Line), DTC validation, and DTC suppression/unmasking strategies where required.
  • Create roads and scenarios in dSPACE MotionDesk/ModelDesk/Aurelion, develop test automation in Python/ECUTest or equivalent HIL tools, and author and maintain test cases, test data, and test artifacts.
  • Integrate test executions into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitLab CI) and automated job scheduling systems (CT/Jira or equivalent).
  • Analyze test failures, perform root-cause investigations (software, hardware, network topology), and coordinate fixes with software, hardware, and supplier teams.
  • Define and validate bench-level network topologies, bus routing, and power modes required for reproducible testing. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase automation coverage and reduce redundant testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in test automation for embedded/automotive systems, with demonstrable experience in ADAS or Chassis/PT domain or System HIL end-to-end feature testing.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with System HIL (dSPACE SCALEXIO, VEOS, MotionDesk, ModelDesk or equivalent) and ECUTest (or similar test tools).
  • Strong knowledge of automotive communication protocols: CAN (11/29 bit), LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet, UDS, DoIP, and diagnostic tooling.
  • 5+ years of proficiency with Python scripting to perform various automated tasks like test case execution, monitoring vehicle level data for KPI testing.
  • Experience debugging, testing, and bringing up complex hardware/software systems.
  • 3+ years of experience in conducting TDRs for new test solutions, leading test-case reviews, and test-automation reviews. Hands-on experience in bringing up new features, designing, and deploying test solutions for end-to-end feature testing.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Agile methodologies and the ASPICE (Automotive SPICE) framework, including applying ASPICE process areas to software development lifecycles and collaborating within iterative, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in efficiently developing and executing validation test plans to cover various configurations applicable to the system.
  • Experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks, CI/CD integration (Jenkins/GitLab CI), and artifact management (JFrog, Nexus).
  • Familiarity with test management and reporting tools (TestRail, Jira) and log analysis tools (CANalyzer, Vector tools).
  • Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills across hardware/software boundaries. Knowledge of virtualization (VEOS/virtual ECUs) and bus virtualization/routing approaches.
  • Familiarity with safety/functional-safety concepts (ISO 26262) and automotive development lifecycle.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Python scripting.
  • Experience with System HIL testing tools (dSPACE SCALEXIO, VEOS, MotionDesk, ModelDesk).
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet, UDS, DoIP).
  • Experience with ECUTest or similar test tools.
  • Ability to develop and execute test cases based on ASTQB methodologies.
  • Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Experience with virtualization and bus virtualization/routing approaches.
