Job Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains medium motorized equipment used in various phases of roadway maintenance such as, Aggregate Spreader, Belt Loader, Combination Tractor with Side Mounted Mower, Large Skid Steer Loader, and Tandem Dump Truck.
  • Performs various phases of maintenance work such as residential driveway installation, repair, relocation and regular maintenance, clearing of R/W, drainage structures, cross line pipe repair, signs, debris removal, etc.
  • Affords assistance in the operation of a backhoe used during various phases of maintenance work such as clearing of R/W, drainage maintenance, material moving, etc.
  • Performs traffic control operations for work zones, to include lane closures, flagging traffic, and detours for the safety of the crew and the traveling public.
  • Safely operates and maintains electric/gas powered tools in various phases of roadway maintenance. (e.g.: chain saw, weed eaters, drills jacks, wrenches, pavement breakers, air compressor, pumps, generators, etc.)
  • Affords assistance in Emergency Operations and being on call for after hour emergencies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

  • Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
  • Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Physical Requirement

  • The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
