About the role

The Highland County Engineer announces the position vacancy of Highway Maintenance Worker I.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance tasks on county roads and bridges.
• Operate heavy equipment as needed to maintain road surfaces and structures.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and department policies.

Requirements

• A valid State of Ohio Commercial Driver’s License minimum Class B with Air Brake Endorsement is preferred but not required.
• If hired without a CDL, applicant must complete the in-house training program within 6 months of employment and pass the CDL test.
• Must obtain a valid State of Ohio Commercial Driver’s License minimum Class B with Air Brake Endorsement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in highway maintenance or related field preferred.

Skills

• Knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Pay

$21.78 starting wage, with a potential increase to $20.78 after successful completion of in-house training and passing the CDL test.
