Highway Engineering Intern
About the role
Dewberry is seeking a Highway Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Mechanicsburg, PA office. Responsibilities
- Assist in all facets of highway engineering including design of horizontal and vertical alignments
- Drainage systems
- Traffic signal systems
- Utility relocations
- Development of maintenance and protection of traffic schemes
- Preparation of right-of-way and contract plans for a variety of project types and clients
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Experience using AutoCAD or Microstation a plus
Program Information
During the summer intern program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full-time employee.
Interns get the opportunity to participate in a series of workshops and events, including:

- Professional development workshops, including a career planning workshop and a DiSC assessment to learn more about themselves and how to work effectively with others
- Summer-long group project where interns work alongside firm leaders to address issues that will impact our future strategy
