Highway Design Project Engineer

Responsibilities

• Execute engineering tasks in transportation and highway design, ensuring adherence to relevant design criteria, standards, and processes.
• Apply a strong understanding of transportation engineering principles, including roadway geometry, pavement design, traffic control, and stormwater management.
• Aid in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction, as well as construction cost estimates.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to deliver effective highway design solutions.
• Ensure designs meet state and federal highway regulations, codes, and client specifications.
• Identify design issues and provide effective solutions throughout the design process.
• Assist in building and maintaining relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction and project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
• 3-6 years of relevant highway design experience.
• Engineering Intern (EI) license required.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
• Familiarity with state and federal highway design regulations and guidelines.
• Proficiency with MicroStation, Open Roads Designer (ORD), 3D Modeling etc.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
• Experience with project delivery of State Agency Transportation Departments – Delaware preferred.
