High School PM Athletic Coordinator~ BEHS SPRING SEASON ONLY

Stipend: $2,268.16

Reports to: Director of Athletics and building administrator

Primary Functions

To provide each enrolled middle-school student an opportunity to participate in extracurricular athletic activities that foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, knowledge and understanding of sports, and the principles of fair play.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the organization and administration of the overall extracurricular athletics program.
  • Foster good school-community relations.
  • Attend and supervise all home athletic contests; arrange a replacement if attendance is not possible.
  • Assist with visiting teams’ arrival and departure.
  • Assist with athletic officials’ arrival and departure.
  • Assist with crowd control and other obligations during contests.
  • Assist the High School AM Athletic Coordinator with tasks throughout the season.
  • Confirm game workers, security, and athletic officials totals in scheduling software.
  • Assign and confirm athletic contest game workers.
  • Maintain master game workers schedules.
  • Develop rules and regulations governing student conduct during after-school events.
  • Assist in budget development by providing equipment and supply requests.
  • Arrange details of visiting teams’ needs and share site information.
  • Organize and/or assist at end-of-season banquets, back-to-school sports nights, pre-season coaches meetings, college signing days, and similar events.
  • Perform calculations and math functions associated with the position.
  • Apply common sense to solve problems practically and reasonably.
  • Use basic computer knowledge for assigned tasks.
  • Perform duties in accordance with district and Board of Education guidelines and policies.
  • Meet the physical requirements of the position, which may vary widely depending on the activity.

Requirements

  • Valid Connecticut coaching certification or temporary emergency coaching permit.
  • Updated CPR/First Aid training approved by Connecticut State Department of Education.
  • Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of sports offered at the middle-school level.
  • Ability to read, interpret directions, write reports, and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.

Pay

Appropriate placement on the negotiated teachers A-2 schedule.
