About the Role

As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, you will perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. You will utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice, maintain a safe therapeutic environment, and identify nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. Demonstrating age-specific knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients is essential. Ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) is core to your role. You will utilize the nursing process for individual care, document all patient care, and demonstrate technical skills, procedural adherence, and critical thinking. Your role includes providing care and coordinating participation that aligns with the hospital's mission and vision statement.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice.
  • Maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
  • Identify nursing problems related to individual patient needs.
  • Demonstrate age-specific knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, and treatment.
  • Ensure privacy and confidentiality of patient Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Utilize the nursing process for individual care and document all patient care.
  • Perform technical skills, follow procedures, and apply critical thinking.
  • Coordinate care that fosters the hospital’s mission and vision.

Requirements

  • Degree from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (B.S. or A.S.).
  • 1 year of RN experience required.
  • Labor and Delivery experience highly preferred.
  • Current licensure by Tennessee Board of Nursing or Compact State.

Qualifications

  • BLS certification (required).
  • ACLS certification (required within 6 months).
  • NRP certification (required within 6 months).
  • AWHONN basic, intermediate, and advanced certifications (required within one year).
  • CPI Training & Certification (required within 6 months).
