High Needs (LIFE) Paraprofessional/Driver

Essential Functions

• Typing, drawing, writing, and duplicating instructional material
• Listening to students read and reading to students
• Helping students with make-up work
• Aiding in individual or group activities, games, flash cards, computers, etc.
• Alerting the teacher to the needs of students
• Aiding the teacher in checking the progress of individualized study projects
• Supervising lunchroom, playground, halls, classrooms, and other assigned activities
• Preparing bulletin boards, charts, and graphs
• Aiding in the physical and health needs of the children, such as feeding and toileting
• Aiding in the use of augmentative communication/electronic devices
• Checking the bus before each operation for mechanical defects and notifying the proper authorities in the case of mechanical failure
• Following guidelines for loading/unloading students
• Maintaining discipline when students are on the bus/van and reporting undisciplined students to the proper authority
• Transferring and positioning students with physical disabilities
• Performing miscellaneous typing and filing
• Investigating and inventorying books, materials, and equipment
• Aiding in emergencies
