High Needs (LIFE) Paraprofessional w/ Driving

Essential Functions

• Typing, drawing, writing, and duplicating instructional material
• Listening to students read and reading to students
• Helping students with make-up work
• Aiding in individual or group activities, games, flash cards, computers, etc.
• Alerting the teacher to the needs of students
• Assisting the teacher in checking the progress of individualized study projects
• Supervising lunchroom, playground, hallways, classrooms, and other assigned activities
• Preparing bulletin boards, charts, and graphs
• Aiding in the physical and health needs of students, including feeding and toileting
• Aiding with augmentative communication/electronic devices and being willing to be trained for use
• Checking buses before each operation for mechanical defects and notifying the proper authorities in the case of mechanical failure
• Following guidelines for loading/unloading students
• Maintaining discipline when students are on the bus/van and reporting undisciplined students to the proper authority
• Transferring and positioning students with physical disabilities
• Performing miscellaneous typing and filing
• Inventorying books, materials, and equipment
• Aiding in emergencies as needed
